Having relocated to Mid West Wales a few years ago, I’m finally back to what I love -Sewing (Anything!), Designing, Dressmaking, Art, Photography, Interior Design…generally creating stuff!

I trained in Haute Couture initially, working for a few different designers before deciding to go it alone. But after too long working alone in the spare room making wedding dresses and various associated gowns and outfits, I opted for a ‘proper job’ working in various roles, moving on when I either got bored or made redundant!

My absolute favourite was Concession Manager for Triumph International (Bras not bikes). Seeing the utter joy and relief on a woman’s face when she’s finally in the right sized bra, is such a buzz!

Once my children were nearing secondary school, I started my own Professional Lingerie Fitting company, providing bra parties (Think Tupperware, but with bras… and wine) and later a high street shop. Once freed from my shop cage, I took myself back to college and re-trained in horticulture at Hadlow College in Kent - which confirmed I’d learned an awful lot from my Mum, and Geoff Hamilton on Gardeners World. I was lucky enough o get to design a few new gardens before Covid struck, and could thankfully work outside throughout - thank goodness for the great weather that year!

So here we are now, Dicky and me, we’ve been here in the mountains since July ‘21. Both learning Welsh, both now with much more understanding, but still lacking the confidence to actually try a conversation beyond the basic few word intro, but it’ll come..

I’m back to designing and making, but instead of being locked in my studio alone all week, I set aside a few days for classes and workshops, I’m loving my sewing classes they’re a great way to meet new people and pass on my knowledge & manufacturing tips. I’m learning from my ladies too - we talk about all sorts of things in class, sharing funny stories, or chatting about our latest reads/binge watches. I’m pleased to say I’ve made some great friends so far, which only compels me to carry on.
