Classes & workshops

starter courses

I run two types of starter courses:

A one day intensive; which covers everything you need to get you started straight away and a five week starter course, jam-packed with information for absolute beginners, but which is also very useful for those who have never explored dressmaking but know how to quilt. We use most of your machines stitches; sewing samples of many different seams, hems, zips and buttonholes and you make a wearable item which utilises all or most of your new skills, to take away with you.

saturday sessions

For a fun packed, full-on, immersive, one-day make, these classes are invaluable. Several types of garment, cut direct from cloth by plotting from your measurements, rather than using a pattern.

Fabrics and notions are not included in these sessions, but an outline of what is required for the garment, is outlined for each garment.

‘get to know’ sessions

Short two hour classes concentrating on either sewing machines or overlockers.

An opportunity to play with settings, tensions and stitches you may never have used and look at the tools and presser feet that came with your machine.

Plenty of ‘Aha!’ moments to be had, discovering new ways of doing things, with top tips a plenty! As usual, fun to be had!

Improvers Classes - Weekly

Two sessions to choose from, where within each warm, welcoming group you can make anything you choose! All levels above novice are catered for, with the group as a whole keen to help, support and encourage each other.

Choose to pay by block for a discount per session (most popular), or take one of two Pay As You Go slots set aside in each - you may book these ahead of time, or take a chance there’s a free space when you’re ready.

workshops

Various sessions each with their own topic or theme: one week may be a class on sampling a couple of different collars, the next week we may be making piped and zipped cushion covers. Sessions change regularly so come back and check the selection and see what takes your fancy
